It's been a while since I've posted. I haven't run much at all since the marathon in July. I took all of August and most of September off from running. Only last week did I start integrating some short runs and walks into my cross training of stairmaster, cycling, spinning, yoga, aqua-jogging,
Here's what's new and noteworthy:
My wife is running her second half marathon in two weeks. Her training has been going strong. I'm predicting a PR for her. I think she'll come in around 2:10-2:15.
My son started his running group again. This is his fourth time through an 8-week program. He really enjoys it. He and I run will his first 5k together this Sunday. I've been telling him this is his first grown-up race and he has responded, "no it's not. you ran with me in the stroller when i was a baby." He's a stickler for details.
I bought a used bike on Craiglist last week-A 2009 Trek 2.1 in great condition. It took all of six minutes to seal the deal. I sold my mountain bike to get the money for it. I had some good years with my Specialized FSR, and I'll miss it, but I wanted to get something that I could ride from the house and put some serious miles on.
Lastly, I've been continuing to rehab my right heel from Plantar Fasciitis. I have been using ice treatment, graston technique through my chiropractor, and Yoga.
Recently, I had my plastic custom orthotic resurfaced. I'm using this in my work shoes only now and Superfeet soft orthotics in my running shoes. I recall my old running friend Jim had longtime issues before he dumped this orthotics altogether. I think the hard plastic over time can't be good.
So I continue to work towards getting healthy. If you've had PF, i'd love to hear what you have done to get through it.
Have a great weekend. Run strong!

Great post! PF is a beast. :( I bought an insert (http://tinyurl.com/3r2x64l) that seemed to help. I also reduced my running mileage. Great job on your training!
