Why do I Run?

The daily mission on Daily Mile today was "What motivated you to start running?" It got me thinking.

When I started running in 2005, I trained for the Hartford Half marathon with Team in Training, I believe my primary motivation was selfish- to avoid old age, to live as long as I could and be as strong as I could -because my wife was pregnant with our only son that year.

I was motivated by the group dynamic, feeling like i was doing SOMEthing against Cancer, which was destroying my dad's body.

I also wanted to be a example to my child-to show that it's important to invest in your health.

My father died in 5 years ago yesterday. I kept running. It doesn't define me, but it's a part of me now.
