14 Weeks to Disney

After a two week wait, I finally received my new custom orthotics.

Goddamn, these things are are expensive. Insurance doesn't even cover them. And why would they, right?

So I am 14 weeks to the marathon, and I'm now going to try and ramp up my running again.

Yesterday, I WALKED 3 hours or about 10 miles around the reservoir, 3 times.

Today was a rest day.

Tomorrow I do a 3 mile test run with a 2:1 run/walk ratio.

Thursday I will do an interval elliptical workout.

Friday biking

Saturday elliptical again

Sunday stretching.

This will be fun.

I hope that your new orthodics work well for you. I think I paid about that and yes, my insurance didn't pay for it either. 14 weeks is a lot of time for you to train for your marathon.

How are you doing? I like your blog! I am also "40-something" and I'm planning on running my first marathon in May...training begins next month. For now my goal is just to cross the finish line!

My insurance will pay for orthotics — IF I'm diabetic. So all I have to do is stop running and start pumping myself full of sugar, and I'll be reimbursed. Preventative medicine at its best ... but mine are totally worth every penny. Hope yours are, too!

Christina-I don't want to jinx myself, but the orthotics are very comfortable and seem to be doing the trick. Unlike my old orthotics, I am ONLY using them running-more because these type of orthotics are cumbersome to switch from shoe to shoe.

I've also been a big fan of my compression socks.
