When I got to the rail trail today at 7:30a, it was already 75 degrees. Incredibly, it stayed that way and got even hotter throughout the day.
I was glad to get this run in today because tomorrow I will get busy with errands and work despite having a day off because that's just the way Monday's are.
I have a lunch scheduled at noon and I have to drop my wife's car off at the shop and then my wife off at work.
This run started out slowly and stayed at an even pace throughout. I tried to listen to my body as much as possible. My knees were oddly hurting in the front. A twitter friend suggested that in her experience, knees hurting in the front indicated a need for new shoes. Problem is, these kicks are fairly new. Got 'em late Feb I think.
Anyway, it was the first real one in a week and I was glad for the change of scenery. I saw a few folks I hadn't seen in ages and they were all training for the Simsbury Iron Horse Half Marathon as I am.
I'll post the splits later, but overall, I was pleased just to get a run in this week. With work, a sick child, volunteer committee elections, and one-off projects, it was all I could do to keep my head above water. Bottom line, I got 11 miles in. That will be my longest run for the half training-I will taper off and continue to speed train, hill train and work on specific strength building, but that's my longest I plan to run until the full marathon training cycle begins.
